About

Baltic VC Summit 2018 video released!

Each summer, at the end of August, Baltic Private Equity & Venture Capital professionals gather at one of the beautiful Baltic cities, discuss industry developments and cooperation, network and enjoy summer & various activities together. LVCA is very excited to be the host of Baltic VC Summit 2018 and to welcome you in Riga on the 23rd of August. Our special guest this year will be Ton van 't Noordende. Ton is experienced VC investor from the Netherlands and very active part of the European tech & startup ecosystem. He will be moderating the event and in between the sessions, he will take us on a journey to the Netherlands.

Main event location: The Latvian Railway History Museum

The Latvian Railway History Museum, which has the biggest broad gauge rolling stock collection in the Baltics, will serve as unique industrial environment for our event!

After-party location: AQUA LUNA Restaurant, bar and lounge

We would like to show you the unknown part of Riga – Andrejsala (Andrew Island). It is located just a few steps from the Centre of the city, but hidden behind the former industrial port buildings. In recent years, Andrejsala has developed into a significant art, culture and entertainment centre with exhibition halls, clubs, workshops and studios. It is a trendy leisure spot for young people during summer nights. AQUA LUNA is one of the top waterfront restaurants there. You will have the chance to enjoy very nice food and, during the evening, a top Latvian artist, who’s name will be revealed later, will entertain us all night.

We are expecting 250 guests from:

Moderator

Ton van 't Noordende

Ton is a well-known speaker on events & startup conferences all around the world - from moderating panels to judging and keynoting at a wide array of international conferences. He is an expert on topics like the State of Tech and VC in Europe, Emerging Tech (AI/ML), the secret behind successful fundraising and on what defines the different European Tech hubs & cities. Currently he leads deeptech investor 01Ventures. At the same time, with ambition to change the world, in 2017 he travelled to over 40 cities to meet key influencers in the tech scene. He tried to discover 'the secret sauce' & the 'origin stories' of those respective cities, attracting and bringing together founders, toptier VCs, superangels & community leaders. In 2016 Ton with his partners founded Angel Island (angelisland.co) with the purpose of connecting the unconnected. They rented an island near Amsterdam and some tall ships. Then they got together a curated group of 200 angel investors & 200 early stage founders and 'locked' the island. No pitching allowed, no keynotes, no name tags and a strict "zero asshole policy".
